s with all sequencer software, it takes getting used to and once you do it's easy to become evangellical about your choice. I came from Cubase on the Atari and found the transition a little difficult.

I have to say the flexibillity of this software is it's strength but also what makes it complex. You can customise the layout of the windows to the point of insanity - to get the most from it I would recommend either two monitors or a large(19") monitor. I've been using it for about three years and am still learning new ways to use it.

It does tend to be the choice of a number of professionals mostly for it's ProTools support which was early and first on the block I guess. Bottom line is -if you need a fully featured professional totally configurable sequencer then this could be it. If you prefer a simpler more straightforward system without a large number of features that can get in the way - maybe this ain't for you

V4.0 proves to be quite an improvement. There are more native drivers for audio hardware (1212,Sonorus,2416,AW8) that offer improved performance over ASIO.

You can now put plugins accross busses (up to 16) outputs too which gives your pretty much the same routing as ProTools.

There are also some pretty nice new plug-ins from Emagics top boffins - noticeably the compressor, fatEQ and tape delays.

Good Points
Stable, configurable and good ProTools support make this often chosen amongst professionals.
Bad Points
Complex, quite a learning curve - ASIO support not as good as Cubase.
