Heavy Metal Ends
The end of something wonderful.
Ever recorded a metal act? Well the long haired gits always end their tracks
with little regard for the click track and they invariably end it with a power
chord. The only cue for the timing of this last power cord is the whole band
looking at the drummer and nodding just before the final chord. This is fine
until Nigel Tuffnel wants to redo his guitar track with 10 extra Marshall cabs.
When he finally wants to drop in on the last power chord - he can't see the
drummer any more!. The solution is to stick a piece of white splicing tape,
across the width on the tape, just on the last drum beat and ask Nigel to watch
the tape machine. Just as the splicing tape comes into view at 30 ips Nigel's
reactions will hopefully be just slow enough to crash his chord as the tape
reaches the record head. If due to various substance abuse his reaction is
slower than normal, just peel the splicing tape off and advance it along the
length of the tape.
