Crunchy Loops
So you've got some great loops taken from (gasp) a real-life drummer. Now to get them sounding crunchy and authentic is another matter. Here's a couple of tips that may work for ya:
Put the loop into you're mac/sampler/pc whatever and drop the sample rate low - 10khz or there abouts. This'll give you a crunchy lo-fi sound if nothing else will.
Use the super cheap compressor technique mentioned in the last tweak. For added degradation you can actually record the break on to the cassette tape and re-sample it. Repeat to taste.
