Hot Snare Tip4) Hot Snare Tip: This one is especially useful for those of you with recording setups in your homes.
Find a large reflective room or hallway (I use my pool room with tile floor and wood panelled walls).
Place a small guitar amplifier in the corner of one end.
Put a condenser mic close to the ceiling on the opposite end of the room.During mixdown, send the snare track to the amp and return the resulting room sound via the condenser mic back into the mixing console. Bring it up combined with the original snare until you get that sweet reflective room happening. It will make that snare jump right out of the mix!
This technique is also useful for vocal tracks or just about anything else you need to "sweeten".
