Mercury rising from TC Works

US But no Klingons around... oh, you know      31/08/00

Following on from Spark Modular, Mercury-1 is the latest development from TC Works, the softwarey bit of TC Electronic. Mercury-1 is a monophonic synth with four engines. Each engine has a dual oscillator and an additional sub oscillator. All of these are generated within the Mac or/anda VST compatible audio recording system. Mercury-1 promises fat bass sounds, leads and classic synth effects. The two oscillators' basic sound is formed from your bread n' butter waveforms (sine, sawtooth, triangle, square, PWM, plus a noise generator for Oscillator 1). Mercury-1 also features Oscillator Sync & Ring Modulation, a 24dB/Octave Low Pass Filter with Resonance, two EGs, Key Follow, Gate, extensive modulation possibilities (MIDI assignable), and an LFO with sine/sawtooth/square/S&H, all with MIDI sync. The SoftSat (for saturation) drive is TC's own feature, for using distortion to create snarly analogue sounds. To run Mercury-1, you'll need a Mac G3/G4 or a Pentium II or better. It's available, well, now...
