Acid bundles audio editor...

Sonic Foundry go loopy with new features      08/10/01

Version 3 of Sonic Foundry’s popular Acid Pro loop-based music creation software arrives with a host of goodies. First up is a remixing widget called ‘Beatmapper', which allows the user to add tempo information to song-length files, allowing remixing and combining of music loops with existing songs. Neat. The ‘Chopper’ editing tool allows portions of audio loops to be used to create drum fills and stutters. These can then be dumped into into tracks as events. Perfect for all you filter freaks out there. Acid Pro v3.0 also offers new features for those scoring to picture, enabling music beds to be created for video and offering the facility to change tempo and pitch at any point in a project, to make sync’ing audio and video easier. To round things off, v3.0 comes bundled with Sound Forge XP Studio v5.0, and 12 DirectX plug-ins, including Amplitude Modulation, Chorus, Delay, Distortion, Flange, Noise Gate and Reverb. No word on a US price as yet, but UK punters can expect to pay around £379...
