MESSE:New Vostok Modular On Show

It's portable and has EMS style matrix patching - nice!      16/03/02

As part of the successful Analog Superbooth (www.superbooth.com) at the MESSE, Analogue Solutions as one would think, had a tasty array of analogue treats. On show were the Filtered Coffee MS20 filter clone as as well as the extremely beautiful new Vostok Matrix Synth. The Vostok is built into a portable case aimed at the travelling musician. The unit features everything you’ll need for some hot modular action including unusually, a digital wavetable oscillator (osc 3) with 256 sampled waveforms and an EMS style pin board patch matrix. We were told that there were some sexy LED tipped pins on the way. Vostok Modules
  • Built in MIDI -> CV convertor with pitch, gate/accent
  • Joystick – 2 way controller
  • Matrix Patch Panel – VCS 3 style with 22x22 matrix. Jack socket points for external signals
  • 8 step sequencer CV + Gate
  • VCO 1 – saw square, PW, glide + sync
  • VCO 2 – saw square, PW, glide + sync
  • VCO 3 – digital wavetable osc with 256 waveforms
  • VCF multimode filter, 2 filters based on MS20 circuitry
  • VCA wired in series with VCF output
  • EG1 ADSR envelope with inverse input + repeat function
  • EG2 (as EG1)
  • VCLFO1 – ramp, rev ramp,square, triangle
  • VCLFO2 (as VCLFO1)
  • Sample + Hold with slew generator
  • Mixer CV/audio 6 inputs normal + inverse outs
  • 2 x 4way multiples We took a quick sample to show off the wavetable oscillator – please bear in mind that this is only a tiny snapshot of what this modular can do. Personally, we can’t wait to get our hands on one for review. The Vostok has proved to be quite popular so we’ll just have to wait like everyone else – not long though! Vostoks are built to order and cost around £1200 +/-$1750
