Good news for the US Midwestern folks, the NEKO64 Keyboard Workstation and OMX64 Extreme Digital Audio Workstation are now available in more US stores. The Open Labs products were first unveiled at the 2003 NAMM show where they were one of the hot products. Featuring integrated audio, control and specially designed software, they are the first purpose built audio machines high-end computers that use 64-bit processors, enabling world-class music production in a single unit. The NeKo64 is priced at $5,495.00, and enables musicians to essentially take their studio with them to live performances. The OMX64 series, which includes the OMX64 Extreme (priced at $11,995.00) and the OMX64 LE (priced at $2,195.00) are the first fully-integrated 64-bit digital audio workstations on the market, enabling multiple, multitrack sessions in a single rack-unit, with more effects, processing power, and upgradeable options than ever before. “We are privileged to work with some of the finest music retailers in the business, and the fact that we were able to sign on American Pro Audio, Cascio Interstate Music, Firehouse Music, Gand Music and Sound, Nova Musik, and Vintage King demonstrates a tremendous vote of confidence in the NeKo64 keyboard,” said Victor Wong, CEO and co-founder of Open Labs. “We’re confident that we’ll help grow the Midwestern music professional’s interest in the NeKo64, which is the first keyboard-computer on the market.” The six Midwestern resellers announced include American Pro Audio, in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Cascio Interstate Music in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Firehouse Music in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Gand Music and Sound in Northfield, Illinois; Nova Musik in Milwaukee, and Vintage King in Ferndale, Michigan.

  • the first keyboard to use Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional, optimized for musical applications
  • the first keyboard to integrate a dual-layer DVD-RW drive, which enables users to burn audio, video, or data directly within the keyboard

Open Labs is the first keyboard manufacturer to incorporate 64-bit processing, and the company developed the NeKo64 using the AMD® Opteron® 64-bit CPU, with 2MB memory cache in either single- or dual-processor configurations. All of the All NeKo64 models include standard high-speed CD-RW, which is also upgradeable to the dual-layer DVD drive. There are six USB 2.0 ports, built-in IEEE-1394 FireWire port and onboard 10/1000 Gigabit-Ethernet port for high-speed MIDI and Internet connections. The NeKo64 incorporates more than 1,000 sounds and effects, more than 100 VST and DX plug-ins; unlimited sounds and options; 500-note polyphony; up to a terabyte of hard drive capacity; 24-bit 96 KHz fidelity; and a maximum 8GB of RAM. The NeKo64 can record 170 simultaneous audio tracks at 48KHz. Music applications include Karsyn™ Performance Host, Mackie Tracktion™ Audio and MIDI Sequencer, Synapse Orion Pro™ Groove Composer and Host. The OMX64 Extreme features:
