Electric guitar players have always had to accept that the more sweat they poured into their music, the quicker their plain steel strings were going to rust. That could be a thing of the past as Elixir Strings, the pioneer of long-life string technology, announced the unveiling of its new electric sets with Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings at Winter NAMM. These innovative strings have the feel and sound of traditional strings, but are designed to last up to three times longer without corroding. The secret behind Elixir's new Anti-Rust strings is its proprietary alloy plating that inhibits tone-killing corrosion. According to Elixir, although the new strings last up to three times longer without corroding they maintain a traditional metallic feel with a crisp, clean tone. Craig Theorin, product manager, Elixir Strings had this to say about their new product, "Elixir Strings revolutionized the guitar string industry with coated strings when we provided a valuable solution for preserving the tone life of wound strings. Our new Anti-Rust technology addresses the same challenge for plain steel strings. Guitar players no longer have to face rusty plain steels when leaving strings on for an extended period of time." Well-known guitar player Johnny Hiland has been quoted as saying, "I don't know how Elixir managed to improve upon the best, but they did! I find the new Elixir Plated Plain Steel strings require even less maintenance and last considerably longer, while maintaining the same excellence in tone, clarity and intonation I have come to expect from Elixir Strings." Further, Hiland has since requested that all the strings on his electric guitars be switched to Elixir Strings new Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steels as soon as they are available. Dozens of professional musicians were enlisted to test Elixir Strings' Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings over the last year, and the strings were commonly praised as an amazing guitar string innovation. The musicians felt that the strings sounded great, felt great, and noted that tone lasted significantly longer than the strings they had used previously. In addition, in these extended field trials, of the used strings that were returned, nearly all showed little or no signs of rust. Professional musician David Thiele of Los Angeles said, "I used the strings for over a month. The whole set of strings maintained their clean feeling, tone and overall great sound the entire time. No rust! I'm buying them as soon as they come out." Sets of Elixir Stringsí Anti-Rust Plated Plain Steel Strings will be offered in Super Light, Light, Medium, Heavy and Baritone gauges. More info:
