Line 6 have announced the launch of its Variax 300 modelling guitar. The new Variax 300 is compatible with Variax Workbench, Line 6's guitar customisation tool, also newly released. Variax 300 takes the same technology and sound from the award-winning Variax family and puts over 25 historic guitar sounds into an instrument that any musician can afford. Guitar Main Features
  • comfort-contoured body
  • maple neck with Indian rosewood fingerboard
  • six-on-a-side headstock
  • 22 medium profile frets
  • 25.5" scale length
  • 12" fingerboard radius. Variax 300 works just like a traditional guitar with instantly familiar controls for easy use. In addition to the standard volume and tone controls, there is a model selector knob and a 5-way selector switch, which changes the guitar models and selects the pickup position. The characteristic tone and volume control responses of each electric model are also accurately replicated, creating instant familiarity for guitarists. Within Variax 300 is Line 6's patented guitar modelling technology, which can accurately reproduce the sounds of a variety of well-known vintage electric and acoustic guitars, in addition to other guitar-related instruments, such as a resonator, banjo, and sitar. Modelled variations include solid-body, semi-hollow guitars, and hollow-body electrics with single-coil and humbucking pickups, as well as several six- and twelve-string acoustics. Workbench
Variax Workbench is a combination USB interface and software package, compatible with any Windows PC or Mac OSX computer, that allows guitarists to see and hear the physical changes to their custom guitar in real time. It is the first interactive custom shop for Variax 300, 500 and 700 guitars and will provide guitarists with their own interactive guitar custom shop with all the tools needed to easily create, store, and share guitars they’ve customized using a computer. Guitarists can select from an inspirational collection of guitar bodies, pickups, tone and volume controls, then tweak the placement and settings of each until they’ve come up with a guitar that is truly unique and meets their creative needs. The Variax 300, used in conjunction Variax Workbench, not only allows the customisation of bodies, pickups and sound, but guitarists will also be able to select custom tunings. Now the T-model setting can be in Open G, the Spank model can be tuned a half-step down, and the Lester model can go to Drop D. Essentially this allows guitarists to store an arsenal of custom-built guitars and custom tunings within their one guitar, Variax 300: UK RRP £340 Variax Workbench: UK RRP £79 More info:
