Little white box FCA202 |
Designed to work natively under Mac OS X (you just plug it in, no drivers nessecary) and Windows XP (you need to install the drivers), the stylling is a bit of a departure from Behringers usual functional design. We spoke to the product developers at the show who were very upbeat about the new range for Behringer. We suspect, that there will be more to follow utilizing the FireWire chipset. The new design team of Florian and Kevin aim to bring even more products that fit the bill.
The solid metal box construction of the FCA202 has been clocked at very low latencies and ships with a special version of Ableton Live with a very competitively priced upgrade, that if taken up, effectively makes the Behringer FCA202 cost zero!
Another point of interest is that for the first time Behringer have simultaneously announced AND released a product, with the FCA202 actually available at the show to buy and take away.
Of course, the final point is the price of the unit. We asked several innocent bystanders, what they thought it would cost and to a man, they all guessed high – the retail price UK is £59! (US price $99)
