Pro Tools Intel-Mac Compatible Soon
For LE and M-Powered 15/02/06 This new processor change for the Mac OS has got the boffins working overtime to produce Universal Binaries (as the new PowerPC or Intel code is called). While there are some applications already native, well Logic Pro 7.2 at least, there’s going to be some catch up time from everyone else.Digidesign announced that they are beginning their roll-out for the new Intel-Macs MacpBook Pro and iMacs, with compatible releases for Pro Tools LE 7 and M-Powered 7. The new versions are planned for release in May 2006 and will enable customers to combine the improved processing power of Intel-based Mac computers with the creative power of Pro Tools. Obviously, there’s no demand for HDTDM system ports as there aint any current Intel-Mac machines that will take the Digi hardware yet.
Plug-ins will also need to be converted and at the same time, Digidesign will release Intel Mac–compatible versions of all Digidesign and Digidesign-distributed RTAS® and AudioSuite™ plug-ins, plus all software options, including the new Music Production Toolkit for Pro Tools LE and Pro Tools M-Powered systems, as well as the DigiTranslator™ 2.0 and DV Toolkit™ 2 options for Pro Tools LE.
