Faderfox are a German company who have just announced the release of a pair of pocket-sized battery or mains-powered compact harware controllers for Ableton Live. The LV2 and LX2 are the latest second generation versions of the previously available LV1 and LX1 and offer several improvements. The LV2 features faders, encoders, buttons and joystick while the LX2 (designed to supplement the LV2) offers a lot of key functions for controlling tracks, clips, scenes, track select and fx.
As of Live version 4.1, the LV2 can be used immediately by using different setting files which are shipped with the controller - without the time consuming process of programming each separate control element.
The LV2 can also be used with other programs. Faderfox tell us that it is suited well for software sequencers due to its architecture/layout although you can not program the LV2 or assign controller numbers or key numbers. The company also say that the LX2 can also be used with other programs and that it is suited for software sequencers, VST instruments or any other MIDI gear - everywhere you need a compact instrument to send a lot of switch commands via MIDI. Here’s the full lowdown of features direct from Faderfox themselves:
