The Apogee Ensemble is everything you’d expect from one of the most well respected purveyors of high quality AD/DA conversion. Lovely to look at, it’s got 8 analogue ins and outs, with four digitally controlled mic/line preamps, plus S-Pdif and ADAT I/O. All inputs and outputs are digitally controllable from the software panel that integrates into Logic Pro, with levels and routing saved with each session. Unfortunately, the Ensemble is a Mac OS X only product for now, so you Windows users will have to wait, actually Mac users will have to wait too - the Ensemble is back ordered big time. Other Core Audio applications are supported but without the integrated settings – you need a separate application to save those. Priced at around $2000 USD and the same in Euros. For full details, see our NAMM story below.
