Source-Connect eliminates the need for expensive ISDN lines, hardware, subscription fees and minute-by-minute line charges, enabling affordable high-quality audio streaming between studios, voiceover talent and musicians all over the world. Incorporating a high-quality, low delay AAC codec, Source-Connect allows for communications at bitrates up to 192kbs stereo.
Source Elements co-founder Robert Marshall told us, "For the cost of a single month's worth of ISDN fees, Source-Connect users can now collaborate with studios around the world, no matter what flavor of workstation they use. This was clearly something we had to do; we were getting too many requests for a VST version. The Pro Tools community has excitedly embraced this new technology, and we needed to offer this option to users of VST workstations."
Source Elements has developed two types of streaming software and both are now available for VST and ProTools users; Source-Connect for 'workstation to workstation' collaboration, and Source-Live for workstation to QuickTimeTM. Source Elements released Source-Live for VST in August of 2006.
Source Elements co-founder John Binder had this to say, "Think of Source-Connect as what you use to build your project, and Source-Live for getting client approval, no matter where your client happens to be. Both have their place in professional workflow."
