Alesis has announced that its podcasting hardware/software kits, which we first reported upon at this year’s Musik Messe in Frankfurt, are now shipping to music retail stores.
Available for both USB and FireWire audio interfaces, the new kits provide a complete bundle of hardware and software that enables users to create audio files for online posting and Internet downloading. Designed for amateurs and professionals alike, Alesis say that their latest technology is an inclusive, easy-to-use package to help anyone record, distribute and promote their audio online.
The systems include a dynamic microphone with a desktop microphone stand, cables and carrying case. Also included in the bundles is Steinberg’s Cubase LE recording software, along with 30 days of free podcast hosting on ww.alesispodcast.com.
This provides the novice, as well as professional, podcaster an easy-to-use solution for hosting and promoting podcasts. During your 30 day free trial you can post up to 500Mb of Podcast episodes with unlimited bandwidth. After the trial period customers can sign up for continued podcasting on the same site for a low cost fee.
The Alesis Podcasting Center also makes it easy to upload and promote your podcasts. There’s no tricky third party software to embed RSS specific files to podcast your shows. Just register and upload your MP3's. As the file uploads to the server it will automatically distribute information about your show to the web (iTunes, Podcast Alley, as well as web search engines) so everyone will know about your new show.
For users who prefer using USB as a audio interface, the USB podcasting kit contains the Alesis MultiMix 8 USB mixer with two channels of simultaneous recording capability, while the FireWire podcasting kit contains the Alesis MultiMix 8 FireWire mixer, which packs eight channels of simultaneous recording capability. Alesis say that each mixer contains the right combination of inputs, outputs, and signal routing options to facilitate effortless recording of both music and dialog.
Both MultiMix mixer models include 4 high-gain mic/line (XLR and quarter-inch balanced) inputs with phantom power, 2 stereo balanced quarter-inch line inputs, an aux send that can send to onboard or external effects, and a stereo aux return. These mixers also feature a generous assortment of onboard effects, 3-band EQ per channel with high/low shelving and mid bandpass/reject, plus numerous additional professional features.
Alesis CEO Jack O’Donnell had this to say, “With the rise of social networking and broader access to fast Internet connections, both aspiring and professional musicians are now looking to sites such as MySpace in addition to their own websites to share, publicize and broadcast new music. We are committed to creating musical technologies that foster innovation and support modern musicians’ creativity. These new Podcasting kits answer our customers’ needs and provide a vehicle to share music more easily than ever before.
Pricing and Availability:
MultiMix 8 USB mixer has an MSRP of $399
