CEntrance, a leader in professional audio technology, and Oxford Semiconductor, a global leader in connectivity, announced today a new development partnership. The alliance combines CEntrance's rapid product development expertise with Oxford's low-cost FireWire audio controllers to create a global support solution for audio and consumer electronics OEMs.
Having developed FireWire products for famous brands, CEntrance is ideally positioned to be Oxford's development partner. Oxford will continue to offer its standards-compliant FireWire audio controllers, while CEntrance will take a more active role in supporting Oxford's clients with custom hardware, software and driver solutions, including CEntrance's recently released aggregating drivers for Windows Vista.
Michael Goodman, Managing Director of Centrance, told us, "Audio applications demand FireWire, which is better than USB in handling streaming audio. Today, the cost of FireWire and USB solutions is practically the same, yet FireWire saves CPU resources for audio processing and offers more robust performance and flexible signal routing than USB. Oxford has a definite winner in this space."
Antoine Michaud, VP Connectivity Solutions of Oxford Semiconductor had this to say, "CEntrance improved the content creation experience under Windows by developing robust, low-latency, aggregating audio drivers. Our audio controllers now offer similar performance and stability on both operating systems, offering customers the highest levels of quality and platform flexibility."
The CEntrance audio driver engine is in use in major studios, production and theater companies around the world. It is compatible with ASIO2, GSIF2, and has been road-tested with a variety of pro-audio applications, such as Cubase, Sonar, Sound Forge, and GigaStudio. The product supports all standard resolutions and bit depths, and features round-trip audio latency of just under 6 milliseconds.
