As you’ll know from last week’s Sonic State news, Yamaha have unveiled the eagerly awaited Tenori-on at high profile press and public events in both London and Manchester recently. Both events attracted capacity audiences, including representatives from national and international media organisations, such as Sky News.
Tenori-on is a unique collaboration between Yamaha and critically acclaimed Japanese media artist Toshio Iwai. In fact, we've just uploaded our very own World Exclusive review of the unit HERE And we have a two part interview with the devleoper: Tenori-on vid pt.1 and Tenori-on vid pt.2 According to Yamaha, the UK launch of Tenori-on has captured public and media imagination alike, provoking an unprecedented international level of demand unknown in recent music industry history.
Having sold three months stocks within hours of the launch, Yamaha has now announced plans to bring forward production and air freight supplies into the UK over the next four months to keep pace with demand. Peter Peck, Marketing Manager Music Production at Yamaha UK, told us, "Huge pre-launch interest in Tenori-on has been converted into a level of demand for the product which has exceeded even our own ambitious expectations, so we have brought forward plans to bring extra Tenori-on units into the UK." "Since the product is largely hand built and hand finished we cannot, and do not want, to turn Tenori-on into a mass market product so incoming stock will always be tight. But we are working hard to increase supply." More information:
