We were lucky enough to catch up with the head honcho of iZ Technology, Barry Henderson. iZ are the makers of the RADAR audio recording and playback system, which is favoured by many who don’t want to have technology get in the way of the recording process and for whom sound quality and rugged performance are important. Very much akin to the 24 track recorder technology but without the hassles of lineups and maintenance, the current systems are capable of incredible sound quality, with their own AD/DA , clock and power supply innovations. With sample rates of up to 200kHz (depending on the model you have) you should be able to capture the sound in it’s entirety, and with many new interfacing options to MADI, eSATA, FireWire and more, the data is easy to move around between systems and DAW setups. On show here is the RADAR V system with version 3.40 software which has increased compatibility with Pro Tools, allowing export of recordings via gigabit ethernet, and catastrophic fault recovery. There BlueRay DVD backup option and eSATA connectivity for external disc action.
