IK Multimedia has announced that AmpliTube X- Gear is now shipping with their StompIO (see our show video) advanced US USB foot controller and audio interface for guitarists and bassists.
AmpliTube X-Gear is a software shell-host that lets users mix and match models from all “Powered by AmpliTube products in a single interface, and provides seamless control over every parameter directly from StompIO, with no need for a computer’s mouse, keyboard or screen. IK say that X-Gear is the first completely expandable and customizable guitar amp and stompbox modeling software system, available as a RTAS/AU/ U/VST plug-in and standalone version for MAC/PC. When loaded with the complete range of “Powered by AmpliTube products, X-Gear gives instant access to over 150 modeled stompboxes, amps, cabinets, microphones and rack FX, for guitar and bass tone creation.
X-Gear seamlessly integrates with the StompIO foot controller/audio interface for complete control of the entire rig. Every parameter of every model in X-Gear is immediately available for control, through the 10 on board switches, 6 rotary encoders and 6 external expression pedals/switches, with preset numbers, values and labels immediately displayed on the StompIO’s 2 large displays and no need for tedious configurations.
AmpliTube X-Gear features:
  • Provides a single host interface for all “powered by AmpliTubeâ€ products (AmpliTube 2, Ampegâ„¢ SVX, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrixâ„¢, AmpliTube Metal, and all future products) with full mix and match among all the included stomps, amps, cabinets, and microphones
  • Allows complete integration with StompIO audio interface/floor controller
  • Opens and reads all “Powered by AmpliTubeâ€ presets
  • Works as both a RTAS/AU/ U/VST plug-in and standalone version with SpeedTrainerâ„¢
Pricing and Availability:
X-GEAR has an MSRP of Euro 79.99 / $99.99 and it is included in StompIO.
A software-only version of X-GEAR with support for general-purpose MIDI controllers will be available next month.
