You’ve probably heard the news already, as there was a buzz about this mixer just before MESSE, but here’s the StudioLive in the flesh. This (as far as I’m aware) makes full usage of the DICE II Firewire chip which has higher IO capabilities than most of the chips used in many Firewire interfaces – See more on the DICE II Chip below.
Main Features
16 inputs, 6 auxiliary mixes, 4 subgroups
16 class A XMAX microphone preamplifiers
Hi-Definition analogue to digital converters (118dB dynamic range)
Unlimited headroom 32-bit floating point digital mixing and effects processing
2 Master DSP Effects (reverbs, delays, time-based effect, with load/save)
Load/Save Mixer "Scenes" - all settings
100mm long throw faders
Military grade quick touch push buttons
Fast-acting LED meters
Talkback communication system
StudioLive multi-track recording software
Expected to land later this year with a price somewhere under $2k – which as Rick says, when you consider the cost of a decent 8 channel AD/DA – is a steal.
