NOTION Music has kicked off the inaugural PROGRESSION YouTube Competition, an online contest inviting composers from around the world to write and perform their own compositions their PROGRESSION guitar-based music composition program, as their backing band. The competition, which will be judged in summer 2008 by a combination of selected artists, is designed to give new composers the chance to demonstrate their talents for a chance to win NOTON Music software and a NOTION Music endorsement.
Kris Karra, UK managing director, NOTION Music, told us, “We believe there is a huge amount of undiscovered talent out there and we want to give up and coming musicians the opportunity to showcase their skills. We can provide the means to inspire aspiring musicians to create their own music with the help of professional quality performance software.”
PROGRESSION is a music composition program which includes tab, MIDI and playback. NOTION say that it is a powerful, yet easy-to-use guitar application for creating, learning, and recording music, providing quality audio with thousands of samples including electric and acoustic guitar, stand-up and electric bass, fender rhodes and drum loops – all recorded by professional musicians. PROGRESSION now includes built in VST AmpliTube 2 Duo guitar amp.
In order to enter the competition, entrants are asked to download backing tracks from PROGRESSION’s MySpace site: myspace.com/progressionguitars and video themselves live, playing along with the track.
Entrants then submit their videos on PROGRESSION’s YouTube page: youtube.com/ProgressionGuitar along with a description of their performance and their personal details.
The competition will run until June 2008 and winners will be selected in the summer. The grand prize winner will receive an endorsement deal with NOTION Music and over £500 of software including NOTION 2.0, all of NOTION’s Sound Expansion kits, PROGRESSION, as well as a year subscription to Guitar Player magazine. Four first place prize winners will also be selected and will each receive a copy of NOTION 2.0 and PROGRESSION.
