TALK Special Interview: John Van Eaton - This week due to an unlikely series of unrelated events, our panel are distributed far and wide, doing what they do when they don't do this.

So this week we managed to grab a conversation with John Van Eaton - fresh off the road with NIN and many other massive touring acts, John has been touring for almost 20 years. As well as working for Nine Inch Nails, he's been out with Front 242, Linkin Park, Guns 'n Roses and Marilyn Manson to name but a few. His career has taken him from a one man band back in the 80's with an MC-500 and a Casio CZ101, to working in keyboard stores, and then running large touring rigs.

Now taking some time out to focus on his own material and take stock of his enormous synth and drum machine collection, we caught up with him in his Kentucky studio.

Many thanks to John for stepping up at such short notice.

Great interview. It's really interesting to hear from a veteran audio tech. And settling down to a house full of long stored synths must feel like Christmas everyday.

Enlightening! Like to die-hard old gear dependence. I also understand the fear of computer crashes. I do some really small time stuff and I only have one computer and I'm almost always sure it's going to crash; sometimes it does.
