Dan Lavry of Lavry Engineering is often spoken of in hallowed terms - his designs for super-high quality AD and DA converters are considered to be amongst the best money can buy. At this AES, he unveiled the new budget MP10 mic pre – the newest member of the Lavry Black series which somehow get his "total transparency" designs into a modestly priced package. According to Lavry, the sonic performance of the MP10 rivals or exceeds that of much more expensive units, and is extremely consistent over the entire gain range. Accurate matching of the two channels also makes the MP10 suitable for stereo recording applications. The housing is a "half-rack" enclosure with its own power supply, that operates on 90-264VAC 40-63Hz.
    The MP10 features include:
  • -Low distortion and noise
  • -Transformerless input and output
  • -Wide Gain range of 20-75 dB in 1 dB steps with digital display
  • -High/Low impedance switch
  • -Balanced/Unbalanced switch
  • -Large, detailed LED level meters with 42 dB range
  • -Triple regulated Phantom power, selectable per channel
Available soon, more info on the website (not yet posted)
