Dual capsule microphones appeared to be the flavour of the show this time, the idea being that you can change the polar pattern after the recording by recording the two signals and blending afterwards by changing the mix of the capsules.
Josephson Engineering have been doing this for over ten years and have got pretty good at solving the sort of design problems that come up with twin capsule mic designs.
