If I had a Cent for every stand at Summer Namm selling guitar picks... well, I guess I might have enough to buy one.
We asked husband & wife team Nancy & Vinni Smith what was so special about their see-through plastic plectra... were they clearly the best? (see what I did there.. clear... ok, I'll get my coat)
Actually in all fairness, people did seem to be genuinely impressed by them - and while I was there, guitarist Marc Cooper who I'd filmed the day before demoing on the Digitech stand (see here), came by to stock up on more V-picks. So in the spirit of true investigative journalism [cough] I asked him what it was about them he liked?
Myself, I spent 7 years on the road and never really gave a thought to the kind of pick I used - everyone in the band played a nylon Jim Dunlop .88 - made it really easy for the roadies. But now there's a whole lotta technology and material science applied to the humble plectrum... as our very own Rob Chappers will attest (see his video about it here).
Anyway, enough talking... check out the vid.

Wow didnt knew picks matter that much. IT is definitely a very cool one, since it kinda sticks to ur hand. If I were a serious Guitarplayer, I would get some 02-Jul-08 08:48 PM Gus Said... I walked up to the booth at Summer NAMM, and gave a few of them a try for the 1st time. Each one had a unique character to offer. The "Sreamer" opened up my speed right out of the gate, it's absolutely amazing! You can pick with heavy attack, and get the sharp bite and crazy harmonics, then pick light and get a smooth warm sound, very dynamic! The tone control with the attack of V-Picks opens up a whole other world of playing techniques and sounds on the guitar. Glow In The Dark "Screamer" Love it!!! 03-Jul-08 09:41 AM Post a comment
