In this the first of several pieces recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, we talk to Dickie Chappell Peter’s personal engineer and man who makes things happen. Dickie has been with Peter for several years, having worked on a number of projects all over the world and recorded some of the greatest living performers from many cultures and worked with numerous top-notch producers.

Peter's Writing Room studio, one of several at his fabulous Real World Studios in Box, UK has been set up to allow Peter to work the way he wants, when he wants. Dickie Chappell is our guide as we take a look inside...

Dickie Chappell is currently working with the amazing Children of the Khmer a dance and music group from Cambodia who are working to help revitalize the cultural deficit that was left after the terrible Khmer Rouge regime left power. After bringing them over to perform at WOMAD in Charlton park (I saw them and they were wonderful), they are now performing at The World at St George's West as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Great interview! An amazing studio environment and it's cool to not only see the gear but also get an insight into Peter Gabriels working process. Pity the studio doesn't have a webcam, would be great to check that out to see him working!

Thanks for the coverage, Nick. I'm sure from now on we'll see lots of Sonic Staters with cheap high street keyboards chained to the ceiling! LOL.
