Spotted: New microKorg XL Synth

New successor to the ubiquitous microKORG      04/12/08
Just announced by Korg is the new microKORG XL - the newest manifestation if Korg's extremely successful MicroKorg, the keyboard that is to be found in bedrooms all over the world. A kind soul also posted this video by WebDog.
    The new XL builds on the original with the following features:
  • New vintage design is both fresh and nostalgic.
  • Korg's renowned MMT Multi Modeling Technology, optimized for the microKORG XL.
  • Sixteeen band vocoder for voice controlled effects. A gooseneck microphone is included, so you can begin vocoding right away.
  • 128 powerful sounds are built-in and ready for immediate use.
  • Intuitive sound selection; simply specify the music genre and instrument category.
  • Seventeen powerful KAOSS derived effects.
  • Newly developed natural touch mini keyboard is compact, yet easy to play.
  • Editing software can be downloaded from the Korg website, as well as converted MS2000 and microKORG programs.
  • Battery powered for on-the-go enjoyment.
Available early 2009 - expect to see it at NAMM..

interesting.

Im curious as to the pricing and placement in the line. I thought the R3 was meant to replace the microkorg, so this is meant to be cheaper still?

It's akin to the situation with major car manufacturers such as mercedes and audi et al, with an attempt to provide a product for any tiny little gap available in the market.
