Welcome to Sonic TALK LIVE 111 - this week out chat room swells as we get on a roll of uninterrupted streaming service and we are joined by none other than John Bowen a synthesizer design luminary who's over in Germany working on final tweaks for his much anticipated Solaris synthesizer. Over the wires this week comes Rich Hilton the man from Chic and Nile Rodger's Crib studios where he works on various studio projects, also beaming in from stateside is EMMY winning composer PJ Tracy, Mark Tinley - just back from his public speaking initiation ceremony with the Toastmasters, and Dave Spiers who's freezing his nuts off like the rest of us in the UK, while he masterminds the GForce Software empire. We start with an homage to Oliver Postgate - the UK children's TV show creator who passed away this week, then we're on the Stylophone both real and iStylophone versions, then we're on to Christmas themes and No1 singles both UK and US - or rather lack of, then we preview the brilliant Sonic TALK remix from The Circuit Symphony which shows off the excellent VariPhrase technology of the Roland V-Synth GT - great work mate! Then we satisfy the curiosity of Kayle Clements who wants to know how we got together and how we got into our musical gigs. We finish with the perennial topic of messy workspaces or not. Caution, those of you with an obsessive need to tidy up may find this topic distressing... The playout is provided by The Circuit Symphony's excellent remix of last weeks show. Remember... Hello Nick and the Guys -

Thanks for the background info - very interesting. I think it is nice to know a little bit more about the people I listen to each week.

Thanks again. Cheers! Kayle

Really enjoyed this one! Interesting subjects, such as the 'How did you get into your current job' and I absolutely loved the 'Workspace mess' subject as I recognized a lot from the workspaces that were described! :-) On another note, though, Nick: there are listeners such as me that aren't in the UK or US, so when you say 'Probably not familiar for those in the US...' do you assume that everyone else have watched BBC all their lives? ;-)

(Having said that, BBC is a favourite tv source for me so I get most of the things you do mention...)

Marc, of course - I'm being a bit bipolar in my cultural references - sorry about that.

Must try harder.

There was talk about a capacitive stylus for use on the Iphone or Itouch... they already have them:

i'm sure there's plenty more but this is just one example... incase you need a stylus, or you wear gloves all the time, or your nails or just too long
