Sure, there are quite a lot of low cost large format mics out there, but the customers have been won over to SE Electronics due to their desirable sound. Words like "warm and polished" are used when describing the 2200A sound (Paul White SoundOnSound June 06) .
The 2200T features an on-board tube and is still based on the 2200A, with an EC8300A tube on board, external power supply and a large mic cradle, this will still only be priced at $495.
One to look out for in the next few weeks.

The tube is actually an ECC83A, not an ECC8300A. Full details on this mic are being collected here: http://recordinghacks.com/microphones/SE-Electronics/2200T
