From eBay:
"For sale the legendary EMS SYNTHI 100 modular in great condition and fully functional - one of the biggest and rarest synths ever built, 33 units ever built - including many original accessories and non-working parts of the ultra-rare COMPUTER SYNTHI !
The Synthi 100 was entirely serviced, finished in January. The unit is an early one. That is, the filters are diode based (like the VCS3) and not OTA based, therefore they are by far the best sounding of the 2 "revisions". Probably the richest, creamiest HP I have ever heard. Says who ? says me and James Walker (http://www.synthrepairservices.com/), one of the best specialists worldwide in this matter."
Currently at £45,0000 BUY IT NOW, the auction ends 19-Mar-09 12:54:53, plenty of time to start saving up...

and here's me thinking KENT SPONG of KSR was one of the best synth restorers in the world...

Interesting story, I wonder why after it had just been finished it is now for sale?

credit crunch and/or profit, nick. Just like all the other big modulars. System 700's are now changing hands for 25k , which is a 10k increase in just over a year. So the credit crunch certainly doesnt affect the buyers. There are one or two people to blame for this shoring up of prices, but i wont name names here.

Is this the unit that was originally at Music Control (where they had to remove the exterior wall to get it in!)... I know James originally worked there too ......

You wouldn't do referring to a RL of RLM would you ! ;)
You gotta admit they do fine work there - pricey but probably the best on the planet.

Interesting, we shot a video of this machine at a London show when it had been restored:

Nah, not RL of RLM, as he's a good bloke. He's also a friend of a very good friend, whose judgement on all things analog i trust. Having owned, used and abused various analog goodies over the years, i wish id known this good friend earlier, but heigh ho, etc.
You're in the right ballpark, but youve picked the wrong player, so to speak, and ill leave it there :-D
Incidentally steveo or " " , you dont happen to be part of a duo where the vocalist is a sweet and juicy petite female, do you?

The Music Control uNit was called Digitana. I know who bought it.. but even all these years after.. and after Music Control (RIP) I'm not supposed to say... If I heard right from the podcast that this unit is from france then no this isn't the Digitana. Oh and yes we had great 'fun' hoisting this out of the office on a crane, and even more fun pushing it up stairs in 3 pieces b4 it was restored lol!!!

Oh yeah. I worked at Music Control with James. I was the Protools guy....

I remember that Richard (Aphex) has Digitana one.
That's what I saw in his studio.
