Look, the 3-pin mains plug is the only thing that British people can still be rightly proud of without undertones of bitter nationalism. It's tight, secure, strong, carries 240 of the Queen's volts, a flow of energy so intense that it would likely melt and burn the weak, limp plugs of other cultures.
The MacBook Air is designed to be drooled over, bought, then replaced by whatever anorexic tech-fetish fashion item Apple decide to flog its congregation next year. I've been shaking my head in disbelief at how inferior all other mains plug designs are to the UK design for fourty years. Vive la potential difference.

What I mean to say is, the British 3-pin mains plug isn't the problem. Apple laptops are the problem.

UK plugs are bulky in part for safety. We have a high voltage supply at 240volts AC. The design shows a very small rotating brush connector. The week point where arcing and heat could occur melting the plastic. :-(

Bernard, thats a jolly good point, I wonder if they have thought that part through and if there's enough insulation to take higher ampages..

I don't think they should be too worried about it not handling the current. They must have taken this into consideration. Those universal travel plugs are probably based on the same principle.
Besides, the plugs out here in the US look & feel like they came straight out of an Action Man accessory pack from the 70s and seem to hold up OK.
