I was checking through the Exhibitor List at the Press Office at the LIMS show and saw 'The Arts Council' listed... so I thought I drop by and see what it was all about.

On the stand I found representatives from a couple of UK organisations who had combined efforts to promote a scheme backed by the Arts Council which aims both to get more people playing instruments by providing financial packages for instrument purchase, and to support sponsored events to ecourage practice and playing, which also raise money for children with cancer. The instrument purchase scheme is loocked after by Take-it-Away and the charity which supports children with cancer is CLIC Sargent.

Look out for more news about the September launch of Practice-a-thon Music - you can pre-register to receive more details when they're released; tutorials to come will feature 5 songs:-

* Classic Take That track - Back for Good
* Classic Motown song – Heard it Through The Grapevine
* Greatest guitar riff of all time – Smoke on the Water, by Deep Purple
* Snow Patrol's original version of Run, also covered by Leona Lewis
* Legendary Oasis hit – Wonderwall
