Livid Instruments has announced a unique recycling program for owners of the Ohm36 MIDI control surface wanting to upgrade to the very sexy Ohm64:
In an effort to cut down on waste, reuse expensive components, and fight the growing disposability of consumer goods, we are pleased to announce the Ohm recycle program. Current owners of the Ohm Classic (a.k.a Ohm36) can send their Ohm control surfaces in to be converted into Ohm64 Models for $349.
By comparison, new Ohm64 controllers retail for $599.
Livid's recycling program is an interesting option and a great way for Ohm36 owners to save some money when they upgrade.
The Ohm recycle program lets Livid reuse the wood, fader and rotary knobs, crossfaders, rotary pots, ribbon cables, and fasteners in your Ohm, and repurpose them as a new Ohm64 control surface. The recycled controller will have all of the features of a brand new Ohm, but will reduce environmental impact and cost much less then a brand new Ohm64.
Do you know of any other music vendors recycling their gear?
