Prism Sound and SADiE have now confirmed the UK dates for their next series of free educational seminars. Universities around the country will be taking part in the programme, with each participating venue hosting two evening seminars – one covering Music Recording and the other covering either Mastering or Radio Broadcast.
For the music recording fraternity, Prism Sound's Mic To Monitor tour makes a welcome return. This popular series aims to dispel many of the myths surrounding the recording process. Each seminar will feature short presentations from Prism Sound staff and from guest speakers, including recording professionals who can answer audience questions on recording techniques.
The Mastering and Radio Broadcast seminars will focus on how SADiE digital audio workstations can be used in these specific environments. Guest speakers, along with staff from Prism Sound and SADiE, will discuss the technology and explore the reasons why SADiE has become the craft editor of choice for many mastering and broadcast professionals.
The UK tour is now confirmed for the following venues:
  • Birmingham City University: 28th Sep Mic To Monitor, 29th Sep Mastering
  • Leeds Metropolitan: 30th Sep Mic To Monitor, 1st Oct Mastering
  • Sunderland University: 5th Oct Mic To Monitor, 6th Oct Radio Broadcast
  • Edinburgh University: 7th Oct Mic To Monitor , 8th Oct Mastering
  • University of Glamorgan (Cardiff): 16th Nov Mic To Monitor, 17th Nov Radio Broadcast
  • National University of Ireland (Maynooth): 24th Nov Mic To Monitor, 25th Nov Mastering
Prism Sound and SADiE say that they are dedicated to providing training initiatives to the producers and engineers of tomorrow, which is why the seminars are all taking place at educational establishments that offer courses in music recording and broadcast engineering.
Jody Thorne, Prism Sound's sales and marketing manager, told us, "Students need the opportunity to learn skills that are applicable to the industries in which they will ultimately work. They also need to know about the equipment they will regularly come into contact with. We are focusing our attention on the educational sector because we recognise that this is where the producers and engineers of the future are currently getting their grounding. The aim is to give them – and any industry professional who wants to brush up on their skills – the chance to discuss new techniques, demo cutting-edge equipment and software and learn first-hand from the experiences of our guest speakers."
Full details of times and guest speakers will be posted on the Prism Sound and SADiE website. Anyone wishing to attend can do so by registering their interest online at the websites listed below.
