Tired of getting gear together to take to gigs?
In the near future, you may be able to skip packing your gear and just play your wireless digital tattoo instrument, instead.
Jim Mielke's Digital Tattoo Interface is a flexible Bluetooth device designed to be implanted under the skin:
This Bluetooth device is permanently implanted beneath the skin. It is flat, flexible, silicon and silicone. Tightly rolled when it's inserted through a small incision, and then unfurled beneath the skin, it lies benignly between skin and muscle.
The interface can be used to create any type of controller, much like the touchscreen interface of the iPhone.
As popular as tattoos are with musicians, it can't be long until this somewhat cringe-worthy subcutaneous concept gets put to use for music.
Are you ready for playable instrument tattoos?
And where would you put your tattoo, if you got one?
