This video demonstrates how Photosounder can be used to translate photographs into sounds.

Photosounder is a unique program, for Mac & Windows, that brings together the worlds of photo-editing and sound design. The program lets you open images and sounds indiscriminately, treat and processes them as images and then synthesize them as sounds.

Sounds, once turned into images, can be modified as images, to achieve results that wouldn't be obtained in other ways. Photosounder turns sound processing problems into image processing challenges, opening up a new set and introducing new ways of thinking about sound design.

In addition to translating images into sound, Photosounder can be used to do things like turn sounds upside-down, arrange sounds graphically, vocoding, visual sound isolation and even edit your sounds in Photoshop.
