Steinberg Releases Successor To Syncrosoft LCC software

eLicenser Control Center (eLCC) license management software has new features and full backward compatibility 15-Sep-09

Steinberg has announced the launch of its eLicenser Control Center software, an integral part of its eLicenser license management platform. eLCC introduces a new GUI, additional features and an improved workflow, and replaces the former Syncrosoft LCC software. eLCC is the first software component for the eLicenser platform released by Steinberg since its acquisition of the Syncrosoft eLicenser technology in October 2008.

Lars Meding, OEM Sales Manager at Steinberg, told us, "This update is a key part of the relaunch of the former Syncrosoft technologies as Steinberg's eLicenser platform. eLCC adds a range of features that make using eLCC faster and smoother than its predecessor. All this is a direct result of feedback garnered from both end users and business customers."

The new features include workflow enhancements such as the ability to enter activation codes without having to start a wizard, support for drag and drop license transfer between eLicensers and the new My Licenses view. eLCC also offers an updated Help system including the addition of many context sensitive actions, and expands language support to a total of six languages.

Users of any previous Syncrosoft License Control Center version can download and use eLCC, regardless of whether their product is by Steinberg or one of the many other companies using the older Syncrosoft technologies.

Bernd Peeters, Team Leader eLicenser Technology, had this to say, "Although eLCC has been reengineered from the ground up, it is also fully backwards compatible, so just about everyone using the older Syncrosoft LCC versions can benefit from the new features and workflow right away. From 2010, all upcoming Steinberg products will incorporate eLCC; we're confident that adoption of eLCC by other companies will also begin shortly."

More Information
eLicenser is Steinberg's license management technology. In October 2008, Steinberg acquired license management and copy protection technology from Syncrosoft, having used the technologies in its own products for many years. The technology was renamed eLicenser Management System. eLCC is the first version of the main license management component used by the end customer since the Syncrosoft technologies were acquired by Steinberg.

The eLicenser platform is used by Steinberg in its software products, and is successfully used by many other audio software manufacturers including Arturia, Algorithmix, Korg, Vienna Symphonic Library, Virsyn, Waldorf and many more. The eLicenser system comprises both a USB- and software-based eLicenser. The USB eLicenser hardware is cross-compatible with all manufacturers utilizing the eLicenser system, allowing for easy management of licenses issued by multiple manufacturers.
