Free App Opens World Of Open Source Monome Software To The Ohm64 27-Sep-09
The Livid Instruments Ohm64 is one of the sexier music controllers to be introduced recently, offering hand-crafted wood and aluminum construction, a huge number of controls (and blinky lights!) and the power to be used as a VD or DJ controller with both computers and MIDI devices.
Now Livid has released a free app for Windows XP & Mac OS X that lets the Ohm64 double as a monome music controller:
With this nifty app (or use as source Max/MSP patch), you can use applications designed for the monome controller with your Ohm64. LED commands from monome apps (currently supported: /led /row and /col) are intercepted and converted to sysex for the Ohm64, and MIDI from the Ohm64 is converted to OpenSoundControl and sent to the monome applications. This opens up a whole new world of creative possibilities – I hope you find each and every one!
