Actaully - perhaps even further into the future this sort of interface will develop even further.
To take your Arturia Moog Modulur example - imagine if your multitouch interface actually had a three dimensional capability - where - instead of touching a 2D socket ont he screen, you actually had a 3D hole that went into the instrument. Then - instead of a virual connector - you actually had a real physical connector to hold onto to insert into the hole. Now that would be awesome - but I guess we're several decades away from the 'powers that be' today actually realising that sort of tactile interaction and control...

It seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to add virtual patching and better zooming.
Moog Modular V is a great app, but something like this would take it to another level.

Windows 7 already has multi-touch capabilities and there are already laptops released that support these Win7 capabilities.
It wouldn't be too hard for existing DAW & VSTi vendors to update their software to allow virtual knob & fader twiddling, etc. Even if the virtual knobs were too small to be used on a small screen size, they could be autozoomed when touched. I would be surprised if this wasn't already on some of their project plans...

I wasn't too interested until he grapped the wall and rotated the view - wow. Reminds me of Linux-style 3D desktops, except inside out. Very impressive, I can't wait until stick PCs can be used as Lemur-style interfaces! It would sure end the hardwar vs software debate.

Amazing. And sometime in the far future when were all wiping our dirty screens from the grease and treating our worn fingers for friction burns, someone will release some retro thing thing called a mouse which we'll all find much easier.

Incredible workspace concept. I would agree about the use of it for a whole workday and repetitive tasks, might be a little RSI inducing

The big innovation here is the style of control, not the touch screen interface in itself. Being able to use gestures - perhaps in the future even in the air above the interface if pointing to something isn't relevant - is very revolutionary. Of course it will have to be seen in how far this works for more detailed actions but I can image a combination of gestures and a pointing device like a pen. This is definitely very, very interesting. I'd also be interested to see this combined with augmented reality, so the desktop could be visible only to you and available wherever you are.

I just can't see how you could use something like this comfortably for more than 15 minutes. I mean I get neck pains when using my laptop for too long. Imagine having this on your desk instead of a keyboard or having it in front of you like a monitor. Or am I missing something?
