MTV Kills The Video Star

"Music Television" is officially dead.

While MTV has been running away from the "Music Television" moniker for 25 years, it's just now making the split legal, by updating its identify to remove the words.

"Having 'Music Television' on there was just a constant reminder that MTV was branding itself one way, programming itself another," notes The Hollywood Reporter.

Blogs and YouTube have taken the place of "music television".

But do you think that YouTube and blogs are going to make superstars on the scale of Michael Jackson or Madonna?

Its about time.

They should have changed their name to Trailer Park Trash Reality TV years ago, as that's all they seem to show.

And just how they still qualify for hosting a music awards ceremony is beyond me...
