Chambered Acoustic/Electric Steel String Guitar

Epiphone announce the SST Studio 23-Feb-10
Chambered Acoustic/Electric Steel String Guitar

Here's what Epiphone have to say...

The Epiphone SST Studio is the iconic chambered acoustic/electric steel string guitar like the one played by countless artists. They became attached to the rich, warm acoustic sound that came from a surprisingly thin, comfortable to play guitar, that they didn't have to worry about feeding back, especially in high-volume stage and performance playing conditions.

An Old Favorite That Is New Again: The SST Studio is still the original solidbody acoustic design that comes to mind. Consisting of a solid Mahogany body that has been semi-hollowed, with special, computer-designed sound cavities, that when amplified by an under-saddle pickup, it produces great acoustic sound that's feed-back free. The chambered Mahogany body is set to a Mahogany neck with a Rosewood Fingerboard. The soundboard is a crisp-sounding Spruce top with a complimenting Rosewood bridge. The guitar is equipped with Grover tuning machines for superior tuning stability.

Custom Electronics from Shadow: The Epiphone SST Studio takes its sound to the next level with a specially designed preamp system from Shadow Electronics of Germany that is perfectly suited for the stage-oriented usage of this guitar. The old-style piezo pickup, which has a sound which can distort, crackle and "break-up" under heavy strumming has been replaced with the Shadow NanoFlex pickup, which provides amazing fidelity of sound and is far superior in vibration transfer and acoustic wave-form amplification. Because of the pickup's, very thin, flexible qualities, it fits unobtrusively in the saddle tray and ensures the best possible contact from the saddle and the bridge. The rim-mounted control panel features a Master Volume Fader, High EQ and Low EQ faders for greater tone control, and are flush-mount, which fit easily into a hard case and protect them from damage. Another great innovation for the SST system is an easy-access battery compartment for much simplified battery replacement, eliminating the old procedure of removing a back panel with a screwdriver.

Headphone Friendly Guitar: To go along with the SST Studio's better new sound is one more little feature on the control panel: an Amp/Headphone switch. Flip the switch to "Headphones" and the preamp to drive headphones when plugged into the guitar's output jack. Perfect for practice and private playing!
