Leo Fender's Telecaster Promo Video

Documentary released for the iconic guitar 20-Aug-10

Whether it's the classic Tele set-up, or a custom redesign of the old classic, the Telecaster is a beautiful piece of guitar history.

Well now Fender have uploaded a Youtube trailer for a new documentary about the history of the guitar, featuring interviews with some of the world's greats, such as Keith Richards, Albert Lee, and Jeff Beck.

The documentary, entitled Leo Fender's Telecaster: The Original Twang, was made by ex-Guitarist journalist Bob Hewitt.

For the full low down on the documentary, visit Fender's news site

This video fails because it features James Burton twice as a rhythm player. When I think of the Telecaster he comes to mind as the grand master.

Metallimeister 10-Feb-12 12:26 AM

Overhyped

broBERRRY 04-Feb-12 05:01 AM

putting flames on a tele or any guitar for that matter is like smearing shit on the walls of your house

StephenFiorentini 30-Jan-12 09:40 AM

Can't help but notice ''stratmasters'' written across the top

jcoldham1 30-Jan-12 12:43 AM

john 5 solo just sounded shit

cuchoguitar 25-Jan-12 06:29 AM

I just got mine, 60 years aniversary´s edition .... and i fucking love it!!!

tuananhxu991 25-Jan-12 04:17 AM

At first i love the Stratocaster, i love it so much but now i kinda hate it. Now i have a Fender Telecaster with Dimarzio and it is a beast! I love it, but not like the Stratocaster.

racefaceec90 18-Jan-12 11:59 PM

just recently got my first tele (a lovely squier cv 50's vb).it's fantastic :-)

varfk000 14-Jan-12 05:02 PM

5:20 creepy bass player

fender7375 14-Jan-12 07:43 AM

They should have showed James Burton playing lead, and GE Smith doing the rhythm.

AlexBoultonGuitar 06-Jan-12 09:14 PM

@hillbillygenius72 Ritchie Kotzen :)

TheGuiTaRMaN1982 18-Dec-11 07:12 AM

@ TWRose- he's the millionaire shredder, not us. lol I like shred, grew very fond of EVH and Yngwie. Broke up with my ex and found my heart in blues recently. Teles are growing in popularity lately in terms of gaining more popularity than it's younger brother, the Strat with a wider audience. I've seen Sue Foley's pink sig Tele for sale by me for 10g at a local store last week. Make your own repro for less than $500. As stated in the video, "The most basic plank of wood with microphones on it"

SimoJames1 16-Dec-11 11:09 PM

Yep, Ole' Redd, Albert Lee, James Burton, Steve Cropper, Greg Koch, Jerry Donahue, and some other folk.........................., Redd & Burton takes the win on this one!! Cool DVD though, all the same!!

hillbillygenius72 09-Dec-11 03:21 AM

Who is at 2:57?

skullboy1990 03-Dec-11 11:46 AM

@TWTRose couldnt agree more

Zosh1969 03-Dec-11 09:25 AM

Great video, but much tooooooo short

Maafa1619 02-Dec-11 04:45 AM

Old Redd, with the magic sausage fingers.

LittleMissLeared 01-Dec-11 12:31 AM

I love Teles.

Sadly, I don't own one right now. But one day...

fenderstrato88 29-Nov-11 03:12 PM

where's jim root with his tele?!

DogCatchersBand 24-Nov-11 05:41 PM

How Redd Volkaert makes those stubby sausages of his work that Tele magic is beyond me. Jerry Donohue makes those knuckle busting string bends look easy!

pleindart 15-Nov-11 01:36 AM

j'aime bien!

intelsiberia 14-Nov-11 09:52 AM

With a Telecaster, you really find out if playing guitar is for you and what you´re made of. It´s a "true" guitar. You can´t fake it.

Rishikeshresonant 13-Nov-11 01:50 AM

3:15 ABOUT HOW IT SOUNDS ACOUSTICALLY. THE FEEL OF A TELE IS ROCK SOLID IMAGINE A ACOUSTIC LIKE THAT.AND TRY EXPLAINING THAT TO A CLERK WHO WANTS TO SELL YOU A GIBSON OR GRETSCH

tallicafan250169 04-Nov-11 04:23 AM

Girls playing the guitar look like they try too hard.

SpiceyFilipino 28-Oct-11 06:13 AM

StephenFiorentini 23-Oct-11 11:27 PM

6-3-4-5-7-8-9! O YEAH!

fotillas 12-Oct-11 07:03 PM

@LfunkeyA In your opinion... I'm not saying you're wrong of something but if you ask me... I'm in love with tele's tone and everything.... I love both guitars of course i would be dumb if i didn't like them... RHCPeace

guitarhal96 02-Oct-11 08:38 PM

simontrack23 26-Aug-11 07:52 PM

MrMb666 23-Aug-11 11:12 AM

flatpikinguitar 22-Aug-11 03:13 AM

PBANDSNOW 21-Aug-11 06:52 AM

PBANDSNOW 21-Aug-11 06:50 AM

Lol, John 5 is the biggest poser ive ever seen.

atmosser 20-Aug-11 09:56 AM

Haha, look at the bass player at 5:20 ^^

ConorCoughlanMusic 18-Aug-11 09:58 PM

1:10... one of the most beautiful tele's ever and in my opinion, the best player ever. one love keith.

211ridebmx 17-Aug-11 04:58 PM

5:21 that guys is like "damn he's good"

joshua9312 15-Aug-11 10:45 AM

Danny Gatton, the Telemaster.

BrothersCinco 14-Aug-11 04:52 AM

sue foley really says it best: "you can't fake it on a tele. you can either play or you can't." then backs it up with some smooth ass playing. awesome

alessonincrime 13-Aug-11 10:22 AM

@MrMb666 no need for sexism.

LfunkeyA 11-Aug-11 06:16 PM

strats still own teles in every way. only advantage a tele might have is slightly better tuning stability, although getting proper intonation is pathetic. as long as you don't overuse the trem on a strat you won't have a problem there.

Eclinevas 07-Aug-11 04:45 AM

Esta guitarra, es taaan básica y tan paja, tan simple y capaz de hacer cosas tan profundas, tan sobria y minimalista pero suficiente para desgarrar sonidos del alma.....no necesitas más, es la TELECASTER!
