Hey how do I get a hold of those mks 20 samples? And how are you playing it through your open labs? Thanks and God Bless
thanks buddy, ill keep waiting for it
I think it's just a matter of time. In my opinion the iPad would need a bit more juice before we can use it as a decent sampler.
sigh... :( and any other sampler I can use the wav files to re-create the samplers just as I have them in the kontakt nki files? It may mean I have to use hundrend hours to reorganizate all the wavs again but maybe...
Unfortunately, there isn't Kontakt available for the iPad, yet. I'm not aware of any samplers for the iPad that can play .nki. :(
I know some people of been talking about loading samples in to Garageband, but to my knowledge I don't think it is feasible, yet.
I'm in southern California.
Hi buddy I hope you can help me. I use a simple M-Audio midi-keyboard and I use Kontakt from a laptop to use all kind of .nki samplers I made myself. I was wondering if there is anyway to do the same with an iPad instead of a laptop. Is there a Kontakt for ipad? Or in anycase, there is any other ipad app who can do the same (play .nki samplers from my midi-keyboard)? Thanks in advance!
What keyboard are you using???
Hi, I'm getting an ipad soon to avoid carrying my P330 sound module,iv 1080 and mixer. Can I use garageband's mixer and load in a sample from the mks 20 called the P20. I would have to sample the Iv myself I guess. Are you in California?
Sup man give me a call when you can :), hopefully this week. All we need is 5 minutes seriously. one of my questions is soundslate vs miko. I need to get rid of latency issues using my mac. Will be using this live. i have mainstage have not tried with Omnisphere, trilian, Ivory, but the beauty in something like the soundslate to me seems to be to easily layer the three forementioned vst. I can not justify buying a Kronos nor Motif when technology is moving this way. Call me :) :)
@soldierbnice I have a Launchpad, but the Launchpad is by Novation. I think you're thinking of the Akai APC40 or Akai APC20.
My bad, on the miscommunication, u said you use your launchpad for recording creating songs. I assumed u were referring to APC Launchpad. Thanks
@soldierbnice, hmm...I think we have miscommunicated somewhere. I don't have an APC.
thanks man great response. So since you use Apc with ableton for this.. Do you program your beats, as opposed to making it like on an MPC, like if your doing a gospel track with different drum parts, do you program the beats thru the sequencer or do you play them in a drum pad manner. is it easier to just sequence complex gospel rhytms. (like 6/8 israel houghton type stuff) im trying to imulate live sound that is so prominent to gospel and neo soul .Thanks
This may change for me as they keep adding new features to Touchable. I believe they're looking at adding a piano roll editor/view to it, which with that feature I may start using it more.
@soldierbnice, Maschine has the most hardware feel for a software product that I've ever used. It's hard for me to say regarding Touchable vs Maschine. I mainly use Touchable for playback vs actually creating a song. I use my launchpad for actually recording/creating songs because the physical buttons allows me to not need to look at it (I know that's worded very weird). Although you could use Touchable in this, this is just me.
@MixMajor, thanks for the support, man! You still got a MiKo?
Hey Yellowchops I want the best drum maschine as possible, I heard an Ipad with touchable is pretty hot as is Native Instruments Mashine. what appeals to me about Maschine is the creative possibities that have now arisen with Mashine hosting Vsts. However i do not want to waste my money. Also with mashine you can record automation , like when you turn buttons, you can record real time automation. Can i record real time automation with touchable. Is touchable with ableton just as good.
Great presentations, at the end you mentioned that "you could just get a neko or miko". I dont have enough money for a motif and soundslate and neko. I love my pluggins and actually think they sound better than the motifs.. my question is if you only had $5000 budget, what would you get, motif and soundslate, neko, miko, ipad... i do the same kind of music you do as well so i would need conducive... God bless u and thanks for using your knowledge to help other musicians.
I'm using Kontakt, Trilian, & HyperSonic 2, Yamaha KX8 and AP Express is the router.
Thanks, @lordcroesus!
Hey, great video! I've three questions -- which plugin is driving the sounds you're playing here, which controller are you using, and how does the Airport Express fit into it all?
But this is a really great video. Open Labs should employ you, you've pretty much just sold me the SoundSlate! Thanks mate :D
Forgot to say, that it has been fine for me.
@cosmicjazzer The audio interface is a PCI audio interface and those tend to be pretty good with regards to latency. If you want something else, you can get the SoundSlate FW and use the FireWire interface of your choice.
The BIG question for me is how low a latency can be achieved with Soundslate versus Muse Receptor or Mainstage. I find latency a problem on many hardware synths (Motif!) so this issue is the clincher for me...
That's a little 4 channel Behringer mixer.
I'm glad you got it figured out. All I need is the Airport Express, iPad, & SoundSlate (w/USB wireless NIC). The Airport Express is the only router than I'm using.
I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I hadn't seen the option to use use either RDP or Vnc. This Ipad is the first mobile apple product I've owned. Missed the plus sign in pocketcloud. I used the VNC option and entered the same credentials as I had been using, and it connected. Now I can get back to work. Just one more question-I see that you use an airport express, do you use that alone and/or do you have a separate router. Thanks again for your patience. AndyT
What company makes the box on the right side of the ipad for RCA and Mic Inputs?
RDP won't work on Windows XP Home which is what Open Labs uses. You would need Windows XP Professional to have RDP. You do not need an internet connection. All you need is network connectivity. How is your SoundSlate connected to your network? WiFi or wired network? Are you getting successful pings between your SoundSlate, iPad, & router?
Sorry, for the delay. I've been real busy with a whole bunch of different things. What plugins are you currently running on your SoundSlate? What is the main function you will be using this setup for?
I'm not familiar with iTeleport. I'm using Wyse PocketCloud, but any VNC viewer/client should work fine. I'm not sure about the gmail account. I think it may be used for auto discovery, but I'm not sure because I don't use that feature.
What VNC server are you using on your SoundSlate? How is your SoundSlate and iPad connected? WiFi or wired network?
You don't need an internet connection. You just need to be connected together on the same network.
You set the password for the VNC server when you install/configure the VNC server.
yamaha kx8 (has great action)
Also, just in case you weren't aware Komplete 7 is now only $500 and includes a whole bunch of different plugins.
Thanks, Jason. Also, tell Lysa I said thanks!
A resounding, "YES"!!! It works fine on it. I actually have it installed on my SoundSlate.
great video and great help.do you think Soundslate can run Cubase without any problems?
Cool video Jeff. Lysa posted this on her facebook.
I'm using a combination of different plugins. Off the top of my head I was using NI Komplete 7 stuff & Trilian.
Hey where is the sound library coming from. Is this stock sounds in the Slate. I have the Neko Timberland edition... I have got to have this...
Off the top of my head, I was running Kontakt 2, Kontakt 4, Trilian, Hypersonic 2, Scarbee Stuff, Nucleus SoundLab. There were multiple patches/sounds loaded into all of them. Switching sounds doesn't take any time at all. When I was showcasing the sounds, that was a straight video shot, there were no cuts on that part of the video. So how long it took to switch sounds in the video is how long it took.
