The Who Signature Bass Guitar

Here's the press release...
At last year's NAMM Convention Dean Guitars, the preferred guitar for many of today's top hard rock, metal and shred guitarists and bass players, announced an agreement with Aphex to create a new line of acoustic-electric guitars. As the first musical instrument ever to integrate Aphex technology, the flagship Aphex Enhanced guitars have been a runaway success for both companies. A growing number of Dean's high-profile endorsers have been making it their go-to acoustic, and dealers everywhere have reported having trouble keeping these unique instruments in stock.
Based on the success of the Acoustic-Electric line, Dean and Aphex have once again teamed up to create the new John Entwistle Bass. Modeled after the legendary Who bassist's favorite axe, the Aphex-equipped Dean Entwistle Bass is expected to be as popular with bassists as the Acoustic-Electrics have been among guitarists.
Dean Guitars has introduced two new Aphex-enhanced John Entwistle signature basses, christened the Spider and the Hybrid. Both models feature integrated Aphex Exciter/Compressor/Optical Big Bottom circuitry.
While the Hybrid is a standard model that will be widely available in stores, the Spider (pictured above) will be a limited edition collectors' item featuring an active three-band EQ, spider-web inlays and a strikingly unique angular design. The Hybrid bass features a similar body style with more rounded edges, and includes several upgrades from the standard, such as the bump up to a Mahogany top and body from Alder, rosewood or ebony fingerboard instead of maple, and the addition of the Aphex Exciter/ Compressor/ Big Bottom circuit. The Hybrid also features EMG Lo Z pickups versus the standard's EMG HZ humbuckers. Both models are available in several finishes.
"Licensing Aphex technology and partnering with other industry leaders has been a priority for us since acquiring the company," says Aphex CEO David Wiener. "Our partnership with Dean has been one of our most mutually successful relationships to date, and we're certain the new John Entwistle bass will be as popular as Dean's Aphex-enhanced Acoustic-Electric guitars have been."
"It's an exceptional honor to be building John's basses, and I'm proud to have been the first person to play this exquisite instrument in public,"
added Elliott Dean Rubinson, CEO of Dean Guitars. "John would have loved this Aphex-enhanced instrument."
