The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance and Shure have announced the launch of the 2011 Shure Songwriting Award. Previously supported by Amy McDonald, K.T. Tunstall and Paloma Faith, the competition will be judged this year by the band, Everything Everything (pictured above). Here's the press release with all of the details:
Everything Everything's music has been described as "pulsating, genre-defying beauty, filled with inventive, erudite twists and unexpected, thrilling turns. As capable as filling a dance floor as they are of sparking a thought, they're the sort of band that many an act will forever dream of being". They were nominated as part of the BBC's sound of 2010 and in August released their debut album 'Man Alive' through Geffen Records. This year they have already won the South Bank Sky Arts/The Times Breakthrough Award, been shortlisted for the XFM New Music Award and narrowly missed out on NME's 'Best New Band' award. 2011 will also see the band embark on a European tour culminating in three UK headline shows!
If you are a songwriter looking to make a career out of your talent, why not take part in this year's award competition? First prize is a unique opportunity to attend, free of charge, the fantastic one-year Professional Diploma in Songwriting course at the Institute worth over £5,000! And in addition, two runners up will win amazing gear from Shure. Studying at the Institute, you will be able to take part in regular live showcase events, professionally develop your talent and have direct access to leading industry professionals.
To enter, all you have to do is upload an original song to the award website before April 8th 2011. A combination of an expert panel of judges plus public voting will select a top 8 and then Everything Everything will be making their selection for this year's winner! Commenting on the award, Everything Everything said:
"We're thrilled to be judging the Shure Songwriting Award and work with the Institute this year. Competitions such as this are vital for discovering and encouraging new musical talent and we can't wait to hear the entries."
This could be your chance - it could be your song chosen this year! For further details on entry guidelines, terms and conditions or for further information visit the award website listed below or contact the Institute directly.
