The cover looks a little like the 50 Ft Hose "Cauldron" LP--a great early old "electronic" LP from the 60's. Kinda reminds me of Gary Numan's Tubeway Army meets really early Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark

Most likely discs are photographic prints just like movies on film, in which case they are made with an optical printer. You know the drill: you print the image onto the disc with light, develop the disc in a bath of chemicals, and it's done. And of course machines do the hard work. I could be wrong; it could be a process that uses ink. But it's most likely photographic.

Well, the discs are celluloid, just like film stock. They spin around completely once every 2 seconds.
