Getting Started WIth Ableton Live

Hooking Up An Audio Interface 08-May-11

Ableton has launched a new 'getting started' tutorial video series for Live. The videos are designed for new Live users.

The first in the series features Ableton clinician Huston Singletary demonstrating the basic steps of setting up and connecting an Audio Interface to use with Ableton Live.

The second in the series builds on the first, looking at recording audio with Live.

Upcoming tutorials will cover comping takes and warping audio.

i have got a behringer uca200 u-control using asio but i don't get the option to chose my u-control :/ and i cant record via the line-in because it has about a 1 second delay time :( cant have delay if you want to record live percussion and scratching!!!

DjDuel911 12-Apr-12 06:47 PM

If i have a usb mixer board do i still need an audio interface?

MrJakuboff 03-Apr-12 07:27 PM

I've got 24 ms overall latency with 192 samples on focusrite ASIO driver with the same audio interface. I think that's not good

Bassbox93 23-Mar-12 06:27 PM

im using a m-audio delta audiophile 2496 soundcard. my problem is that i got sometimes some noise sounds when im watching a video or listen to music, especially when im producing my own music. so idk if the noise is produced by my processor, because of a high cpu load or by my soundcard. i also reinstalled the soundcard driver. can someone help me or got some tipps? thank you

@KiddAmbition Hey man check their website. That's how I found mine but for my mbox

fearmorte1 23-Feb-12 02:01 AM

Why do you need an audio Interface?

KiddAmbition 07-Feb-12 12:38 PM

Hi I have the saffire 6 usb. I have lost my driver disk because I just recently moved. I have looked everywhere and it's lost. Is there a way to buy a new driver or something? If you could help I'd really appeciate this!

jojoyear 07-Jan-12 04:03 AM

Just open your eyes (or even ears for the interface, he says it...) :P Focusrite Saffire 6 USB interface and Akai MPK 25 controller.

elarchenemy 31-Dec-11 03:07 AM

question!!!!!!!! when i connect my interface (focusrite saffire pro 24) to my laptop (with the proper firewire card) ableton runs extremely slow, ive tried other software and its the same thing. any suggestions?? i have optimized my computer and i have a good system.

iloverock50 25-Dec-11 09:41 PM

hey all,i just saw this and wondered if anyone can direct me to educational material in this field, all these sound geeks assume that we even know what an audio interface is!i would just like to have some backing tracks for me and my son to play with(im a drummer .he plays piano)

ProfiFerdi 25-Dec-11 12:22 PM

Hi, if i choose asio on my computer, im not able to choose an output and i hear nothing. I cant even choose an input, but live sees my input so its okay. But i dont hear anything and want to know how i can fix that.

ilovemutemath 14-Dec-11 01:35 AM

IRLfilmpjes 29-Jul-11 03:49 PM

Im new with the music industry.. i just need 1 answer. Can i make beats with a drumpad (Launchpad) by connecting it to live? Will it record?

goken5001 02-Jul-11 02:56 PM

does your interface need to be on when configuring prefences?

lipisdij12 02-Jul-11 01:27 AM

hi, i have a focusrite saffire 6 as well, how does the sound actually travel from the audio interface to the computer, is it via the usb cable?

elleo123 01-Jul-11 07:54 AM

HI! question here, I have live, (trial version with exporting activated), and a yamaha audiogram 6 interface, the driver is installed and I can record an external instrument through the interface and live, I am extremely new to recording audio as I have only used midi before, so as I understand it, my inputs and outputs have to be the yamaha interface? It does seem to allow me to record and monitor through the yamaha via headphones. I won't be able to record w the yamaha yet monitor w my laptop?

WUTPROPFEN 01-Jun-11 05:27 PM

nn8nn 08-May-11 02:04 PM

thanks for answering my Q... appreciate it

AbletonInc 07-May-11 06:20 PM

Hello. It is very possible but check to see if the soundcard is utilizing Core Audio by default or similar. You should have success once you have the proper drivers installed from the appropriate DJ MIDI Controller. Click on the Audio Tab in the preferences and see what "Driver Type" is displayed in the Audio Chooser window when you connect your interface or audio interface/controller. Thanks.

djkoopz 07-May-11 05:30 PM

Yes

Mixikyr 07-May-11 03:42 PM

if using mac i'd recommend getting firewire, freaking mac has only 2 USB ports!

ansiaaa666 07-May-11 01:51 PM

nn8nn 07-May-11 10:35 AM

flyingbeaver 07-May-11 03:13 AM

AbletonInc 07-May-11 02:58 AM
