Legendary Jazz/Soul Guitarist Cornell Dupree Dies

Cornell Dupree dies aged 69   11-May-11

Cornell Dupree, who played for artists such as Aretha Franklin, Miles Davis and Fats Domino has died at the age of 69.

The guitarist was suffering from emphysema, and passed away on May 8th. He was hoping to undergo a lung transplant, and a benefit concert was planned for Cornell at BB King's Blues Club in NYC.

Dupree had played on recordings such as Aretha Franklin's 'Respect', and had been a member of the house band for Atlantic Records. He had also played along side Wilson Picket, Sam Cooke, and even worked with Hendrix in the early sixties.
