Eliminate Stompbox Hiss And Noise

MXR introduces the M195 Noise Clamp 08-Jun-11

Jim Dunlop has released a demo video of the MXR M195 Noise Clamp, which was announced at the NAMM show in January. Here's what the company has to say about it...

Crank your stomp pedals to the extremes without the fear of any hiss or excess noise with the MXR Noise Clamp. By sensing your guitar's dry signal, The Noise Clamp reduces the noise level within the effect loop, coming down hard on even the noisiest signals. A single Trigger knob allows you to set the volume threshold at which the pedal is active, and a green LED shows whether the gate is on/off. This bad boy is capable of reducing Noise up to 26dB, maintaining riff definition at extreme gain levels.

Features

  • Eliminates hiss and excess noise from your effects chain.
  • A single Trigger knob sets the volume threshold.
  • Capable of reducing noise up to 26 dB.
  • Maintains riff definition at extreme gain levels.

The Smart Gate is an end of the chain effect to shut the amp up. The Noise Clamp is a loop pedal that loops the noisy pedals through the send and return. For example the wah, fuzz/distortion, EQ would go through the loop. If you click the wah on with a Smart Gate, it will still be a little noisy, however if you loop it through the Noise Clamp, the wah will be quiet when clicked on. This is more front of the chain while the Smart Gate is more end of the chain. Hope that helps

To use this pedal to silence a tube ample via effects loop use the x method. Guitar to clamp input. Clamp output to amp effects return. Amp send to clamp return and clamp send to Amp input. Hope that made sense.

decent pedal good demo for ppl that want something a lil better look into a dbx i use a dbx 266xl in my studio rig it about 200 bucks but has it in stereo 2 u can add tone 3 has input output range runs on 120vac 4 it has 1\4 inch jacks+xlr 5has a gain level switch front pannal as follows threshold expander attack threshold ratio compressor release output gain use in studios for microphones and instrument most digital effects have gates built in or software to remove in recordings

UnforgivenHD 30-Apr-12 04:38 PM

I WANT TO SLEEP IN THIS CASE

Superninjasam 27-Mar-12 05:08 AM

smart gate is better but more money i think this would prob get the job done though

WASD9ox 22-Mar-12 08:11 PM

this or a smart gate ?

gaulifogg 07-Mar-12 01:55 AM

when i saw this thing, i thought, sexy ass lookin' pedal. then, i heard the fuzz's noise. lastly, i heard the noise clap do its thing. I now want this pedal so bad.

NetjerTa 06-Mar-12 07:14 PM

This work for a bass?

kiyablues 02-Mar-12 05:47 AM

where connect the compressor ?, before the loop, or in the loop with the overdrive '

joanesinu 12-Feb-12 01:39 PM

All the pedals connect in the noise clamp by send and return and the guitar is connected in input/output. The reason is because noise clamp process all the signal (All the pedals you have) and puts in your guitar.

PD: Sorry English isn't my language.

matt21randyrhoads 11-Feb-12 09:40 PM

Quick question, help is appreciated. Where do all of the cables go to/ come from with this pedal? It looks like the input comes from the guitar, return goes to the overdrive, and how do the other two come into play?

harveydents 10-Feb-12 07:35 PM

fucking awesome!

brandenconker 05-Feb-12 03:03 AM

BEAUTIFUL Pedal :') <3

asashesrain 30-Jan-12 05:40 AM

smart gate is ment to shut amps up, noise clamp is to shut pedals up

Ombrenuit 23-Jan-12 01:33 AM

Does the job. Don't think you can find a noise gate that doesn't effect the tone somewhat. If you can, let me know!

ilmorozovz 12-Jan-12 04:08 AM

Very strongly cuts frequencies...

emosucks89 03-Jan-12 09:25 PM

The way this pedal works is similar to an effects loop. The send and return go the the respective in/out of your distortion pedal and the guitar goes through the in/out of the Noise Clamp.

rockerman012 14-Dec-11 04:19 AM

What are the Send and Return ports for?

thefuckerdad 12-Dec-11 08:45 PM

Hey guys, if you want to know what's the fuzz right there, it's a T-Fuzz from T-Pedals. It's a great fuzz, sounds so freaking natural and chunky! Recommended for all of you guys.

VenilsonRezende 25-Nov-11 02:04 PM

Wooow, nice! Whats the fuzz pedal!?

83eetfuk 25-Nov-11 05:51 AM

i like that guitar dude, that's hella cool

paintingglass 01-Nov-11 01:21 AM

still the hiss is there , and we dont use only one distortion/fuzz/overdrive pedal , the only reason there is hiss , white noise is because using treble mainly so the fail is always come from the eq in the pedals and amps just take them off if they dont do the job . the best way to get eq for sound is using system based on resistors not capacitors , it seems no one learned anything all these years of amps/pedals industry , really shame :(

ThePeaveyGeneration 27-Oct-11 07:01 AM

Anyone else damn near pop a mad hard on when he popped in that sick fuzz and it fed back like that?!

pauljack20 23-Oct-11 04:15 PM

what is the difference between the MXR NOISE CLAMP and the MXR SMART GATE? can anyone tell me...

themodularmodular 04-Oct-11 11:29 PM

lol :-)

greendayfan19 04-Oct-11 10:19 PM

way simpler? it has just one button less . . . .

themodularmodular 29-Sep-11 02:35 AM

Gosh, I love these series of mxr video.. Keep it up guys! And yeah, this pedal is way simpler than ns2, love it!

TheSpearsProductions 27-Sep-11 04:31 AM

Hey man. I have this pedal and I absolutely love it. I always keep it completely cranked and only engaged when I am using a high-noise pedal. I've realized that when I use it that way, it cancels instantly and cleanly.

Also, I've noticed that when engaging the pedal for the first time in a few minutes, it takes a couple tries to warm up. You'll realize it goes from slower to instant.

jaynormal 25-Sep-11 09:49 PM

All reviews should be done like this. Good, to the point no bull shit.

kingdarko 24-Sep-11 10:51 PM

I'll be honest after changing my set up i got the pedal working to a much better standard but the thing is still not perfect. I've got two units in the front end of my amp so logically you would put it last to clean up the sound but it's really needs to go guitar > mxr noise clamp> effects> front of amp. Kind of annoying cos it won't kill the hiss of two units but it never seamed to work anyway but the clamp part works great now.

kingdarko 23-Sep-11 09:00 PM

Just got one of these and it's a huge disappointment, the gate seams to work so fast for him but in reality it's slow and the hiss never goes till the gate starts to come on.

The worst thing about it all is that my feedback and hum aint even that bad i have to use this thing on full trigger to get it to work at all. I was expecting so much better from my minor problem.

MXR are still good products i use their stuff and i am just a little gutted this is the first one to not meet the grade.

MatampAmerica 21-Sep-11 08:15 PM

FYI g-spot-music (.com) for T-Pedals in North America

taxo 21-Sep-11 08:00 PM

nice vid,but it gives just no justice to the t fuzz.Awesome pedal.

BMirror 21-Sep-11 07:31 PM

Fuzz is the fabulous T-FUZZ by T-pedals (.com), a war machine fuzz ;)

IzzySpint 21-Sep-11 04:39 PM

What would be better is a distortion pedal with a noise reduction inside that pedal so you only have to push one button on stage. It would make life a shit ton easier.

jfrizzlle 21-Sep-11 09:17 AM

I want both of them, right now, inside me

blueheadphoneguy 14-Aug-11 05:11 PM

0:13: DUNLOP DEMOCABLE FTW!!!!

evhfrankie 13-Aug-11 03:59 PM

The MXR smart gate killed some of your volume ? Weird..

tom113324 03-Aug-11 07:30 AM

sick video

kuroneko057 03-Aug-11 07:16 AM

Hi ! Can I get rid of ground loops, that ugly buzz I hear when my MXR DIme distorsion is on or does it only kill the hiss ? Very nice sounding fuzz btw and cool demo :)

eiohd 02-Aug-11 11:20 AM

Hi, can you tell me please how I should describe the mxr m 195 with my boss gt 8 to insert into the effects loop. The boss gt 8, I have connected with 4 cable method and mxr to be involved in the effects loop, thanks and Best regards from Germany!

pitchwest 28-Jul-11 03:29 AM

Does it have the same Volume stealing problems their last suppressor had?

pitchwest 26-Jul-11 04:48 AM

Sweet but where the hell can I get one??? Canada anywhere???? I did see them on ebay, but I want to try it first, since their other gate pedal sucks... the volume out of all your other pedals!!

TurdFurgusonABF 17-Jul-11 11:45 PM

This may sound dumb i guess, but what is the difference between analog and digital guitar pedals?

dafalcons2013 07-Jul-11 02:03 AM

@GRAYFOX348 yeah ik.. i have different uses for it

GRAYFOX348 06-Jul-11 10:54 PM
